Help For Heroes - Update
29/11/2009 by Ken Wilkie.
Members of Markinch Parish Church have given the Help for Heroes charity a boost of £430 (edit - now £472.00). The church hosted a coffee morning to raise the money. Church members and friends also gave £304 from the Remembrance Sunday retiring collection to the Earl Haig Fund (Scotland).
Our minister, Rev Alex Forsyth said, “It was great to see so many support Help for Heroes and the Earl Haig Fund. These charities support our injured and wounded and provide practical help to those servicemen and women hurt in the line of duty in past conflicts and the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many thanks to all who made the effort and all who helped on the day.”
The picture shows Rev Forsyth, and Mrs Tracy Thomson, who organised the coffee morning, accepting a donation of a House of Commons Bottle of Whisky from Lindsay Roy MP.
